Playground Leaders Shine
Ten Year 6 Playground Leaders were put through their paces for two dedicated afternoons of Sports Leadership training that was delivered by Mr Julyan from Paignton Academy. The Playground Leaders are assigned key roles to support activities for the younger children at break times and lunch times. Through the training sessions the students worked on their ability to communicate, demonstrate and deliver games to suit everyone. Mr Julyan said “The group were fantastic, energetic, passionate and keen to make a difference by supporting the younger students at lunchtime to take part in enjoyable activities”
British Chess Champion Hones Year 6 Talent
All Year 6 students were given the opportunity to take part in Monday lunchtime Chess Club. Mr Thynne who is a specialist Chess Tutor and a British Masters Chess Champion himself has spent several weeks honing the skills of a group of Year 6, teaching them the rules and supporting the students through mini tournaments. Mr Thynne was extremely impressed with the speed in which the whole group picked up the game and understood key tactics. It is hoped to offer the opportunity to Year 5 and Year 4 in due course.
Football Club Flying High
The Friday night Football club which is led by a Torquay United Football coach has seen a committed core group of children attend every week throughout all weathers. The coach has been extremely impressed with the progress of those students who attend each week. Mr Clemens and Mrs Cliff know that the school Football team is bolstered by the weekly training sessions and look forward to the upcoming matches.
Stars of the week
We are extremely proud of our six KS2 students who were awarded Star of the week on the 9th of November. Each class has one child chosen by their class teacher who has gone above and beyond throughout the week.

As usual there was a fantastic array of children to reward in Friday’s assembly. Pictured here are three children who were presented with awards due to their success in learning.
